Home Remedies for Burning Tongue

• Dry mouth sensation
• Increased thirst
• Sore mouth
• Decreased taste or changes in taste (such as bitter or metallic)


Burning mouth syndrome is an uncommon condition, but the risk increases when you enter your 50s, 60s and 70s. Women are also more likely to suffer the symptoms than men. To eliminate the discomfort and soothe burning sensations, consider the following home remedies for burning tongue:

Sometimes, certain factors will increase your risk of suffering burning tongue or burning mouth syndrome. Example of triggers include medications, traumatic events, allergic food reactions, upper respiratory tract infection, stress, and previous dental issues.

Ease the symptoms of burning tongue by chewing on a piece of sugarless gum.

Cut down on oral irritation by avoiding your regular toothpaste and using baking soda instead.

Until your burning tongue has gotten better, it is recommended to forego the foods that can make your irritation worse, such as spicy ingredients and foods with hot temperatures.
